Kidnap And Ransom – Episode 1

Summary:
At the beginning of this episode you see Dominic King in a small boat throwing something that looks very much as a body into a lake. There then is a flashback of 2 weeks earlier to Kashmir in India to negotiate the hostage release of a British family. Kidnappers in Kashmir take some passengers on a tourist bus hostage, King then has to convince the police to not shot them. The innocent passengers do everything the kidnappers say, they all lined up against the window of the bus, one of the passengers wrote on the window saying ‘Don’t kill us’. The UK government initially is unwilling to interfere in Indian hostage negotiations. However during negotiations King unearths that one of the tourists is the daughter of a UK politician, which of course changes the stance of the UK government. The kidnapper took everyone’s phone and was contacting Dominic every so often, he also asks for everyone’s passports. One passenger tried to escape by kicking down the window and jumping out hoping he would be safe but as the police thought he was part of the kidnappers they shot him dead, the bullet went into his neck and he died instantly. At the end of the episode Dominic King managed to convince the kidnapper to let some of the hostages go, he ended up letting go the pregnant lady.

They find a red Ferrari with the engine still running; they then find that there is a dead girl in the boot. This was Michelle. A red light camera captured an image of this woman behind the wheel—she’s one of the elusive car thieves. She was killed because her and her sister didn’t give back his car as they had already sold the parts. Yanos killed Arthur and took Audrey(the other sister), and Nicole has been stealing cars out in the open. She fled to Brooklyn, and the team locates the garage where she and Michelle chopped Yanos’ Ferrari and distributed the parts. He didn’t just want a Ferrari, he wanted his stolen car back. Unfortunately, the girls didn’t know where the parts were, so they tried to trick him by stealing another red Ferrari and switching out the VIN. Yanos killed Michelle when he realized what they’d done, and Nicole has to get all of the parts back if she ever wanted to see Audrey alive again. The team sets Yanos up and arrests him when he comes for the car, and they find Audrey nearby, tied up but alive. When they reassemble Yanos’ car back at the lab, they discover a hidden compartment containing passports and other identification needed for Yanos to take a new identity.

•Money on the floor around dead body
•Ripped t-shirt
•Black nail varnish

Suspects:
•Miranda
•Shop guy

Conventions:
•Police tape on apartment door
•Montages of photos – when the boy (Michael) was killed
•Flashbacks of killing
•Interviewing Miranda as to what she was doing at the time when Josh was murdered… Shows flashbacks
•Towards the end Miranda starts singing a song dedicated to Michael. Flashbacks where then used for when he was giving her the guitar.

Miranda was sleeping in Michael's room when she heard a gunshot. The noise woke her, and she found Michael on the floor when she ran out into the living room. They’ve only known each other for a few weeks, since he and his roommate Josh came into the music store where she worked. Michael struggled with the killer first. Robbery doesn’t seem to be a motive because the body is surrounded by $300 worth of $20 bills. Miranda says Michael didn’t owe anyone money. He bought her an expensive guitar recently, after she admired it the day they met in the music store. He was a sweet guy, she says, and she can’t imagine anyone wanting to hurt him. Meanwhile, Josh is nowhere to be found, and the team tries to track him down.
A smudge on Michael’s cheek contains a combination of ink, mineral oil, glass cleaner and auto degreaser. This leads Lindsay to figure out that the money next to Michael’s body is counterfeit. Josh was using a combination of auto degreaser, mineral oil and glass cleaner to remove the ink on $5 bills, and he reprinted them as $20 bills with his inkjet printer. A piece of reptile skin belonging to a boa constrictor is found on Michael’s clothes, and it has been discolored by fingernail polish. The team realizes the owner of the music store, Randy, is the killer.
